The insulating qualities of a material are expressed in the Lambda value which reflects thermal conductivity in W/mK. The higher this value, the less well the material insulates. With a material that has a low Lambda value you therefore require less thickness to achieve the same result than with a material that has a higher Lamda value. In the selection of products, it is advisable to compare the Lambda value of the materials.

The R value is the heat resistance of a material layer and is expressed in m²K/W. The greater the R value, the greater the resistance that is encountered by thermal transmittance and the better the material insulates. Material thickness in metres is divided by the Lambda value. The higher the value, the better the insulation, a layer twice as thick also has a thermal resistance that is twice as high. For example: An insulating material with a thickness of 10 cm (= 0.10 m) and Lambda value of 0.030 W/mK gives an R value of 3 m2K/W (0.10 / 0.030).

Thanks to the low-flow nozzles, the PU insulation foam can be simply and precisely applied so that there is no loss and/or waste. By contrast to other PU foams, after only 15 minutes FROTH-PAK is already fully hardened and workable.

If however adhesion to such materials is required, it is recommended to treat the surface first using an adhesive product.

If the PU foam is applied to a material such as metal, aluminium or plastic and no adhesion is desired, the surface can be treated beforehand using a transparent liquid release agent with Teflon or Vaseline spray. This shall ensure that – probably with the necessary power – the PU foam can still be released from the surface.
